Adoption — FAQ

Virtual adoption:
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What exactly is a virtual adoption?

A virtual adoption (or adoption from a distance) is a way of supporting a chosen animal financially when, for various reasons (e.g. species, age or health), it has little chance of finding a permanent home. The donor commits to regular payments that cover the animal’s upkeep, such as food, veterinary care and everyday needs.

Does a virtual adoption mean I take the animal home?

No. A virtual adoption is symbolic and does not involve taking the animal into your own home. The animal stays with the Ktoś, nie coś Foundation, where it receives full care.

Who can become a virtual guardian?

Practically anyone can become a virtual guardian – an individual, a family, even a company or a school class. All it takes is the wish to support your chosen animal regularly.

How much does a virtual adoption cost?

The cost depends on the species and the animal’s needs. It is usually a fixed monthly amount that goes to that particular animal. You can find the exact amounts on each animal’s own page.

Does my money go directly to “my” animal?

Yes, your payments are booked towards the upkeep of the animal you chose. We make sure the money is spent on its specific needs. At the same time, we cannot let animals that are less popular for adoption go without support. If any of our animals becomes an internet hit, the surplus beyond its upkeep will support other animals in need too.

Is a virtual adoption legally binding?

No. A virtual adoption places no legal obligations or civil liability for the animal on the donor. You can stop your support at any time.

How can I cancel my adoption?

If you started your monthly payments online, you were asked to create a password. You can use it together with your e-mail address to log in [here] and cancel the subscription.
