Customers’ expectations often force shop owners
to throw away “ugly” or damaged fruit and vegetables, and yet
DON’T WASTE FOOD – GIVE IT TO ANIMALS IN NEED!

Our “SOMEBODY could eat this” campaign is aimed at local grocery shops and greengrocers that would like to get rid of imperfect or wilted produce in a very green and generous way – by giving it to animals.
More than 100 animals live at the Ktosiowo Sanctuary, including:
- almost 90 committed herbivores whose diet is 100% plants (horses, cows, goats, sheep, llamas)
- 14 omnivores who need a daily dose of vegetables and fruit (pigs, raccoon dogs, raccoons, foxes)
ARRANGE A PICK-UP
Our volunteer in your area has left their phone number for you on the leaflet. Get in touch with them to arrange a day and time to collect the vegetables and/or fruit.
PACK A BOX
The day before or on the day of collection, put all the donations into cardboard boxes or bags. If you can, keep them somewhere dark and cool.
Our volunteer will take the donations to the Ktosiowo Sanctuary and hand them over to our animal carers.
ENJOY THE PHOTOS
If you agree, leave your phone number or e-mail with the volunteer – we want to show you photos of the animals enjoying your gifts!
You can also follow us on social media – we regularly post videos and photos from feeding time.
GET A CERTIFICATE!
Shops that decide to work with us regularly (donating once or several times a month) receive our Certificate of Recognition – a physical certificate honouring the generous hearts of the shop’s team.
We are also happy to promote the shops’ websites on our site and social media!
We gladly accept:
- outer leaves of lettuce, cabbage, kohlrabi or cauliflower
- carrot, parsley, celery and radish tops
- bruised and overripe fruit (but not falling apart or mouldy)
- broken, damaged or wilting vegetables and herbs
- out-of-date packs of dried fruit or nuts
Help without worrying
Our animal carers are responsible for feeding the animals.
They sort the donations and match them to the needs of each species and of each individual animal.
Give what you can and we will take care of the rest!
