Cover Boy
Cover Boy was bought from his owner in June 2019 for the price offered by a dealer – a price that led in only one direction: to the slaughterhouse.
Partially sighted, with behavioural problems and cryptorchidism, Cover would walk round in circles while waiting in his stable. He is an example of a horse whose operation cost more than his life was worth in the eyes of his owner at the time. Had he ended up with the dealer, his days would have been numbered – he had no working value, and in such cases horses are priced as meat. After a month in the hospital at Służewiec and a very serious operation, he came to our Sanctuary, where he slowly regained his strength and sense of safety.
Sadly, his blindness is progressing and in time he will probably lose his sight completely.
Even so, he follows the other horses and tries to cope with his disability. Cover Boy seeks contact with people – he loves being close to humans and asks for treats beautifully. He also has an impeccable figure and moves with the most grace of the whole herd. You could watch our equine prince for hours.
