Gruszka

Gruszka (Polish for “Pear”) is a calm, gentle pony mare, the mum of our whole “veggie” family. She was taken away in an intervention from poor living conditions, together with her children, under a final court judgment which found the owner guilty of cruelty by failing to provide the animals with proper conditions and ordered the animals to be forfeited to the Foundation.

Gruszka is a skewbald, white and chestnut, very trusting towards people and exceptionally caring. When she was taken in, she was still nursing Pietruszka and was already pregnant again. It was she who, already safe at our sanctuary, gave birth to Lesio. She is a model of a calm, patient mum and enjoys contact with people.
