Migotka

Migotka was born with very severe leg contractures. From the very start it was clear that her road to health would be long and demanding. Medication brought no results, so as a foal just a few weeks old she came to us for intensive therapy and rehabilitation.
It was an extremely difficult time. Migotka was fed formula milk by volunteers working in shifts. On top of that, every day we did leg massages, rehabilitation exercises and supporting treatments. She had two tendon operations, wore casts and orthopaedic shoes, was under constant veterinary care, and her treatment was completed with laser therapy and magnetic therapy.
A whole team was involved in caring for Migotka – eight people who took turns feeding her, tending to her, massaging her, taking her out on her first walks and simply being there. It was thanks to their determination, patience and enormous hearts that a small miracle happened.
Today Migotka is an adult mare and a full member of the herd. Sometimes she gives a cheeky nip – as if to remind us that she was once a tiny foal who needed care around the clock. She is a Polish Konik, with a distinctive star on her forehead.
Her story is a shared success of the vets, physiotherapists and volunteers who filled her early life with care, feeding, massages and their presence.
Sometimes we wonder whether Migotka remembers Monika – the one who read her books as she fell asleep when she was a tiny little foal.
