Niunia

A huge chestnut mare – a Polish cold-blooded horse. At first glance “just an ordinary horse”, and yet quite extraordinary. Niunia stands out for her wisdom, calm and remarkable composure, which she has proved to us many times.
One of the most moving moments was when she brought a partially sighted horse back to the herd all by herself — she ran to fetch him, seeing that he couldn’t find his way. That’s Niunia: attentive, empathetic and responsible for others.
Niunia suffers from an insect allergy and is currently undergoing treatment. We are waiting for the therapy to take full effect so that she can spend time with the other horses in the pasture without any trouble.
She was adopted once before — we believed it would be her forever home. Sadly, she was returned; the reason given was alleged aggression towards another horse. We don’t agree. At our sanctuary Niunia is an oasis of calm and we have never seen any such behaviour. Today she is a permanent Ktosiowo resident and a close friend of Ebert — the two of them have found support in each other.
Niunia is an almost perfect horse… although at the sight of the syringe with her allergy medicine she can sometimes make a run for it.
