Marakesz

Marakesz is a beautiful, gentle horse who was bought by his previous owner for leisure riding, sport and for her daughter to compete with in show jumping. He was meant to be a training partner, an emotional support and an equine therapist — a stable, calm friend. Unfortunately, the seller concealed the truth about his health. From the very beginning Marakesz struggled with heart disease and early-stage RAO, or equine asthma. During training he tired quickly, coughed and was clearly losing strength. The worried family called a vet. The diagnosis was clear: Marakesz cannot work under saddle, either for leisure or for sport. His body simply would not cope.
The owners acted responsibly — they put his health above their expectations and decided to find him a place where he would not be pushed beyond his limits, but would instead receive care, safety and a chance of a peaceful life. They asked our foundation to take him under our wing.
Today Marakesz is at Ktosiowo. He is learning to breathe deeply, to rest without pressure and to live at the pace his heart and lungs need. His conditions require special care: the right diet, a gentle lifestyle, constant access to clean air, regular veterinary check-ups and, above all, specialist medication that keeps his condition stable.
