Pirat
A one-eyed rascal and a specialist in mischief, Pirat (“Pirate”) is a horse everyone knows. Not because he is the biggest or the fastest — but because he is always up to something. This small horse can stir up trouble in any herd. When Pirat appears, the other horses just sigh: “Oh no… HIM again”.
His story, however, begins very sadly. In his previous home he went through a lot of stress and had a tragic accident — while fleeing in panic (or planning his next brilliant escape), he ran into a barbed-wire fence, seriously injuring his left eyeball. Thanks to the quick response of another foundation, he was rushed to a clinic, had surgery to remove the eye and received the best possible care. Pirat needed a calm, safe place to spend the rest of his life — and so he came to Ktosiowo, with a request that we take him in.
Today Pirat has only one eye — hence his name. But… it doesn’t bother him one bit. Quite the opposite — he truly believes he is a pirate who sees everything and keeps an eye on everything. He is brave, very bright and amazingly clever. Despite his limited field of vision, he copes brilliantly in the stable and in the pasture. He loves people, he loves horses, he loves attention and of course he loves making mischief.
Mind your fingers when feeding him — Pirat often checks “while he’s at it” whether fingers taste good. Mind your pockets too — because he knows that sometimes you hide something in there.
