Płotka

Subtle, gentle, sensitive… Płotka. One of the mildest mares ever to come into our care. We met her in March 2020 at the horse market in Skaryszew. She stood there in a rope halter, barely able to stay on legs deformed by severe degenerative disease. She caught people’s eye — because she was beautiful, majestic, a Friesian. But when the onlookers’ gaze fell on her twisted, painful legs… they walked away. For a horse like her there was only one road ahead — to the slaughterhouse. Then Somebody came along who helped us buy her out and gave her a second, better life.
At Ktosiowo Płotka has been completely transformed: from a nervous, mistrustful mare she has become calm, affectionate and gentle. Today she seeks out human closeness herself — but be warned, no gloves allowed!
Gloves remind her of the vet, and Płotka has not the slightest wish to cooperate with him. In his company she turns into a child at the dentist: fear, panic, zero cooperation — although she has never even tried to hurt anyone. At most… she will flatten her ears to scare you off. And yes, Płotka can hold a grudge. Oh, she never forgets!
Because of the severe degenerative changes that have left her legs permanently deformed, Płotka will always be a mare with a disability. All we can do is support her joints with supplements — expensive, but absolutely essential so that she can live as long as possible in comfort and without pain. The people at Ktosiowo do the rest: a huge helping of cuddles, tenderness and love.
And Płotka returns it in her own way. She draws horses like a magnet. Jantar, Miły and Ebert have all been in love with her, and now it’s Rudy. She can’t complain about a lack of admirers — but then she is hard to resist. Oh, and one more thing: Płotka is a terrible glutton. Unusually for a horse… she adores bananas.
