Sancho

Sancho is a horse who was seized in an intervention by a foundation we work with. Straight after the intervention he was taken to a veterinary clinic, where they fought for his life — he had severe colic and a displaced colon. Thanks to a quick response and specialist care, his condition was stabilised.

Once his treatment was over, Sancho came to our sanctuary, where he joined the herd of Amber and Mewa. From the very first days it was clear that he had settled into his new reality — he is proud, calm and remarkably protective of his mares. In the herd he acts as a watchful guardian and companion who gives the others a sense of safety.

Today we are his home — a place where he can finally live without fear or pressure. We are waiting for the outcome of the criminal case concerning his past, and Sancho… is probably truly enjoying his new life for the first time.
